Honorable Mention at the XV Mexican Painting Biennial Rufino Tamayo
The XV Rufino Tamayo Painting Biennial, which was unveiled Friday night at the Museum of Contemporary Art of Oaxaca (MACO), inaugurated the exhibition to the 51 works selected
The fifteenth edition highlighted first by the broad answer: were sent 2.605 1.034 works of artists from 30 states of the Republic, it was 374 women and 649 men between 19 and 86 years of age.
The jury was composed of Carmen Cebreros curator and art critic, Melanie Smith, artist and who represented Mexico at the last Venice Biennale, Teresa Velazquez, artist and award-winning XII Rufino Tamayo Painting Biennial, Germain Venegas, an artist plastic, honorable mention in the Rufino Tamayo Painting Biennial, and Jorge Contreras, director of MACO.
The awards ceremony was led by Teresa Vicencio, director of the Instituto Nacional de Bellas Artes, one of the organizers of the Biennial institutions with the Oaxaca state government, through MACO, and Fundación Olga y Rufino Tamayo, AC
The awards are considered as a purchase and will form part of the collection of MACO by the state government of Oaxaca, the INBA, and Fundación Olga y Rufino Tamayo.
The jury awarded four honorable mentions to artists Luis Hampshire, Oscar Rafael Soto, Karen Dana Cohen and Hugo Leonello.

_"Texture the Frame" Exhibition

You're invited to the opening party for "Texture the Frame", a group exhibition I'm in, running from November 10th - 16th at The Rogue Space in Chelsea. Independent curator Sophie Plimpton features artwork that calls into question the use of the frame as a literal mode of presentation, as the boundary of a medium, and as narrative. Other artists include: Karen Dana, Pierre Fraiture, Frances Denny, and Jean Fauteuille. An ongoing live performance piece by artist Coco Karol in collaboration with Marcos Zotes will be a part of the November 10th opening event.
For those of you in the area, I hope you can make it! The Rogue Space will be open daily from 11-7 pm.

Joe Baer Seminar Tuesday March 8th
Jo Baer is the first artist to be invited by the Kossak Painting Fund to come to Hunter College and will critique five MFA students. It will take take place on Tuesday March 8th at 1pm, 2nd floor of the MFA building (450 West 41st Street New York, New York 10036). The crit will run 3 to 4 hours.

The schedule of for Jo Baer's three day visit to Hunter College
Monday, March 7th at 7:30, Lang Hall. 4th floor, Hunter North
she will make a presentation of her work at Lang Hall in conversation with Professor Anthony Huberman, .
Tuesday, March 8: 1-5:pm (at the latest), 450 West 41st st. 2nd floor crit room
she will do public crits of 5 students in an active seminar setting; the seminar will be comprised of 12 painters who have passed mid program review, five of whom will show their work. This is an open sesion and anyone who is interested may attend.
Wednesday, March 9: 2-4 pm, 11th floor crit room of Hunter North
she will have a discussion about her own work and her ideas about art. The active participants for this segment would be those MFA students about to graduate and the Huberman Artists' Institute seminar which is conducting an in depth study of Jo Baer's work throughout this semester. Again this is an open session and everyone is invited to come and listen.
